About us

GLOFAN Agrobusiness Solutions is a social enterprise that breeds, produces and multiplies fast-maturing, high-yielding and climate-resilient cassava varieties, for sale to farmers to improve crop production and boost value addition. Founded in 2022, the problem we are solving is that small holder farmers plant inferior cassava varieties that yield 5 tubers, taking 24 months to mature, as opposed to 30 tubers from superior varieties. This has affected yields by more than 50 %, wasted time and energy, and has over time perpetuated food, nutritional and income insecurity in the Teso region for the last 37 years. The recent findings showing that in every ten people living in the region, six people live in utter poverty. With therefore our superior varieties in place, a farmer is able to produce up to 15 tons of cassava tubers per acre in a year.
GLOFAN Agro Business Solutions is solving the problem of youth un-employment, food, nutritional and income insecurities at the house hold level, high demand for cooking fuel – a challenge that has led to destruction of forest cover in a bid to get charcoal. GLOFAN organic cassava is a versatile raw material for carbohydrates and starch for applications in bakeries, brewing, plywood and paper boards, animal feeds and fertilizers. While its starch is good for pharmaceutical industries and manufacturing of briquettes and ethanol an alternative and answer to traditional baked cooking charcoal from trees.
While cassava planting stems offer a big market, GLOFAN Agro Business Solutions is planning to move from cassava stem multiplication to processing High Quality Cassava Flour, Starch, Ethanol, Animal Feed and fertilizers. GLOFAN conventional market comprises of the inhabitants of Teso, Mt. Elgon and Bukedi regions of Eastern Uganda - a population of approximately 5.5 million, while the western and Nyanza regions of Kenya, whose inhabitants are Iteso, Samia and Luo, are also a lucrative market of 5 million. By profiling 3,000 small holder farmers into a Cassava Cooperative Society in the Teso sub region, alone, we will coordinate the improvement of farmer crop production, boost value addition chain processing and encourage bulk marketing. Thus, turning a crop known as a poor man’s commodity into a lucrative cash crop and the region, the food basket in Easter Africa
